Trigger point injections

An injection which helps relieve pain.

Depending on the symptoms, local anesthetic is injected into trigger points (areas that hurt when pressed) in the shoulders, back, lower back, etc. Repeated trigger point injections have the effect of eliminating pain. The degree of improvement in symptoms varies from person to person, but initially, injections are given twice a week. After several injections and the pain gradually subsides, the frequency is reduced to once a week.

Intra-articular injection

This is a method of injecting hyaluronic acid or steroids into the knee joint, shoulder joint, etc.

Hyaluronic acid is found in joints such as knees, and improves the sliding of the joints. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the joints decreases, which causes the cartilage in the joints to wear down and causes pain. Pain can be reduced by injecting hyaluronic acid into the joints to replenish them.

Steroids are very effective in suppressing pain and inflammation. However, they also have side effects, and frequent injections can cause the bones in the joints to dissolve and blood sugar levels to rise. To avoid these side effects, steroids are only used when pain or inflammation is severe.
